23 December
Join us for a seasonal afternoon tea featuring Bobby Bräuer’s Christmas Stollen, Port,
Christmas cookies and brandied plums. Later we visit the city’s most famous Christmas
market - the Gendarmenmarkt - and show you our Berlin in winter. The city tour is led by
an art historian and ends above the roofs of the city with a glass of mulled wine, before
returning to your warm and fragrant room.
Christmas Eve, 24 December
The day is reserved for a journey to the garden kingdom of DessauWörlitz south of Berlin,
but quietly, so as not to wake this unique park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) from its
winter slumber. An expert archivist guides us past hedges, woods and lakes to the architectural gems which were once commissioned by a widely-travelled prince: the Gothic house with its bizarre collection of wax fruits, the delicate replica of the Pantheon, and the grottoes of the almost unbelievable miniature Vesuvius, where Bobby Bräuer expects us with hotpot, baked potatoes and a tenderly melting Vacherin Mont d’Or. After our return and a rest we savour the Christmas Eve dinner (details at "Our Top-Tips" / Holidays)
Christmas Day, 25 December
The day belongs to you. Following a late breakfast - perhaps with cinnamon waffles and
warm cherries - we shall be happy to advise you as to the sheer endless choice of museums
and galleries, Old Masters or young artist rebels. If you like enjoy at Lunch time a small or
grand festive menu at our Michelin starred QUADRIGA restaurant and in the evening the
opera, ballet or Berliner Philharmonie bid you to their Christmas performances. Back at the
hotel fine red wine and seasonal sweets await ... vanilla crescents, candied oranges and then it’s time for a last glimpse of the festively lit courtyard.
