Fire and Lava – a spectacle of colours
The weekend begins with a champagne reception in the gardens of Klessen Manor House. For dinner Bobby Bräuer presents five courses of lavish summer cuisine, accompanied by rare vin-tages from the treasure trove of German wine. Hans von Trotha talks about the life of Prince Franz of Anhalt-Dessau, explaining his passion for travel and the Age of Enlightenment, and his great desire to transform his gardens into a timeless work of art.
On Saturday Nicole Newmark, the Swiss landscape architect renowned for her summer con-cessions, takes us to the hedge gardens of the residence. We learn how to create a perfect private garden through shapes and colours. A light lunch follows before proceeding to Wörlitz, where our Mini-Grand Tour really sets sail: we travel by gondola on the canals through the picturesque grounds, have a picnic in the shadow of the Gothic House, as painted by Watteau, and crown the day with an Italian summer feast at the foot of a miniature replica of Vesuvius (Volcano - eruption included). We create unforgettable moments in a place that truly breathes the spirit of Prince Franz.
The next morning Bobby Bräuer welcomes us into the Manor House kitchen. Red berries are
in season allowing us to conjure up chutneys, jams and preserves as mouth-watering accompaniments for meat and fish. The grand finale to our splendid meal is a memorable
marquis au chocolat with raspberries. |
