Saturday 05 July: The ultimate St. Andrew´s Golf Expierence

For our weekend guests the day begins with the famous à la carte breakfast, followed by the journey to the terrace of Gatow Golf Club, which was founded in 1969 by British Officers, and still upholds their traditions. With a splendid view of the perfect green under a line of trees, a second cup of coffee will invigorate you for the tournament.

The flights begin at 9.00pm, as four players at a time take shots, reaching the ninth hole and the obligatory snack. It is still too early for the first glass of whisky but homemade lemon lemonade and cranberry soda, shortbreads and sweet sun ripened strawberries will replenish lost energies.

Now the tension begins to rise from hole to hole, the last fairways come into view, and when the first player completes the course, Berlin’s Master Chef of the year 2007 serves at the open fire Scottish wild salmon with a flavour of fresh rosemary, moor quail, braised Pop´s eye from Aberdeen Angus, Loch Fyne sandwiches and young white herring caught in the North Sea. Glasses are filled with  Sauvignon Blanc and chilled light red wine.... and there is champagne for the champions of course.

Around 4.00pm the event comes to a close. Limousines transport our guests back to the Hotel, where everyone is invited to the grand winners’ gala at 7.30pm. Cocktails and appetizers await in the QUADRIGA restaurant, followed by a 4-course gala dinner of the hotel’s finest cuisine: Highland lamb, smoked scallops, Orkney lobster braised in Whisky, finally sweet delicacies are served while listening to entertaining swing and soul music courtesy of Andreas Schmidt & Friends, the city’s brilliant Jazz group. The bar is open and the Whisky tasting may begin until night falls on the mild summer evening...
