IN THE LIGHT OF AMARNA: 100 YEARS OF NEFERTITI
On 6 December 1912, the Deutsche Orient-Gesellschaft e.V. made a spectacular discovery at the Egyptian archaeological site of Tel el-Amarna: the bust of Nefertiti was found in the workshop of sculptor Thutmose – and with her, not only one of the greatest masterpieces of her time, but also perhaps the most famous artistic treasure of ancient Egyptian civilisation to date.
Nefertiti fascinates, enthuses and seduces. It therefore comes as no surprise that the proud owners of the legendary queen are to present a very special gift on the 100th anniversay of her discovery: 'In the light of Amarna' is the name of the extensive special exhibition being held in the Neues Museum presenting Nefertiti with discoveries never exhibited before complemented by loans from overseas in an equally diverse and lively ensemble.
Delve into the world of the 18th dynasty under the rule of Pharaoh Akhenaten, the Amarna era and the metropolis of Akhetaten - perhaps with your very own queen. Our exclusive offer is perfect for a few intimate hours in Berlin with a candlelit dinner and a stroll through the city's lovingly decorated shops and romantic Christmas markets ... particularly in the run-up to Christmas.
The Exhibition opens on 07 December 2012 and runs until 04 August 2013 – as does the inclusive offer.
